Westby School District #3 Announces Hiring of Dr. Lisa Laughlin as Superintendent
WESTBY, Mont. — Westby School District #3 has hired Dr. Lisa M. Laughlin as the district’s next Superintendent. Dr. Laughlin will begin her position on July 1.
Dr. Laughlin brings over 25 years of experience in education, including work in K-12 schools, higher education, and teacher preparation.
She began her career in California public schools, serving as a kindergarten teacher in the Norris School District from 1999 to 2004. In that role, she taught all core elementary subjects and worked with curriculum teams, student support services, and school improvement efforts. She most recently taught in Weatherford ISD in Texas during the 2024–25 school year.
Dr. Laughlin also spent more than 16 years at the University of La Verne, where she served as an Assistant Professor of Education and Assistant Program Chair for Educational Studies. She taught education courses, supervised student teachers, supported and evaluated faculty, and worked closely with school districts and university campuses to prepare future teachers.
In addition, Dr. Laughlin supervised student teachers for both the University of La Verne and California Polytechnic State University and helped develop partnerships between schools and higher education programs.
Dr. Laughlin holds a Doctorate in Educational and Organizational Leadership from the University of La Verne, a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from California State University Bakersfield.
As Superintendent, Dr. Laughlin will focus on supporting students and staff, strengthening community relationships, and expanding academic and career opportunities for Westby students.
